MoCCA 2005

Here are some pics from MoCCA. I wish I had taken more pics of the festival itself and of all the great people I met. The highlight of MoCCA was meeting everyone, and also placing faces with names of people I correspond with online. I bought some great books, but haven't gotten around to reading most of them yet. I'll post a pic of my stash soon.
Not much text to go with the pics.

Central Park

On Friday afternoon, John Green gave Toby and I a short tour of NYC. We visited
the Museum of Natural History and saw some cool dinos.

Later, we went to the Maurice Sendak exhibit at the Jewish Museum, which was
just amazing.

John Green and Toby Craig

Awesome whale

Giant bugs.

Italian Food at Cucina
di Pesce
, in the East Village, where we had dinner and a "show".

Raina did a great job of getting everyone together for dinner.

My camera flash frightens the wee baby dinos.

Pics of our table.

Erin Houlihan, Marion Vitus, and John Green

Raina Telgemeier and Dave Roman

Raina has been hard at work on the graphic novel version of  The Babysitters
Club for Scholastic. She had some pages for review, which looks great.

Raina's clean drawing table.

On the subway.

Milling about after dinner at Spring
Street Natural
.

Raina and John are so sad to find out you can't get gelato after 11 PM.

Many many thanks to Raina and Dave for giving Toby and I a home for the weekend. Also many thanks to John and Marion for showing the wonder that is NYC. I am ready for M0CCA 2006!
ALSO, more cool MoCCA reports by Toby Craig and Raina & Dave!

woo! thanks for posting these, dalton. :) your camera picks up some really pretty colors...are you using a higher dpi setting? (all mine are automatically set to 72 dpi, but now that i have a big memory card perhaps i should go higher...)

My pics are 2048 X 1536, at 300 DPI, but I don't think that is true DPI. It's just a huge 72 DPI file. I used the manual setting, and very rarely use auto. My memory card is only 128 MB.

The Nikon Coolpix is a great camera!

Awesome pictures, looked like tons of fun! but I was hoping for a shot of a certain window seen from a particular restaurant...

HAHA! It was certainly interesting at first, but decided I wasn't going to take a picture. That would make me an "enabler" though she certainly didn't need any help! Maybe one day you will go to MoCCA and meet her, and you two can go ride bikes in the buff into the sunset.

yay! more photos! We really had a good time with you and Toby. I'm sorry our apartment was so friggin' stuffy.

When John and I are in Seattle this July, we'll drop you a line!

I had a great time with you and John! Sorry about the burnt popcorn. At least it wasn't popping snow white.
Looking forward to seeing you both in Seattle. Do you have my number?

For bonus fun, you could rearrange the pictures to show you guys sitting at dinner, eating -- then the shot of the terrified baby dinos -- then more pictures of you guys eating. That'd raise some eyebrows.

Beautiful pictures! I was going to go to the Natural History Museum, but ran out of time. It was great meeting you at the show, Dalton!

I'm not sure the "extra dinosaurs" were worth the $5-9 extra we each paid (what was up with that sliding scale?! hah). Though then we would never have seen the baby dinos or the flying bat face. Also, why didn't we get any pictures of the museum food court and our wonderful lunch of dino meat and various dipping sauces. hah.

Mac and Cheese and Sweet and Sour sauce. mmmm.

Yeah, I agree.

We should have taken pics of the dino meat we ate. Who knew dinos tastes like chicken?
